The Unexpected Color: October’s Akashic Energy
October brings a sense of things coming together, alongside a wild card that may introduce an unexpected color into the picture. In this month’s Your Heart Magic episode, I share the Akashic message, guidance for moving with the energy, and a little about the creative work that emerged during my podcast pause.

An October reflection from Akashic Magic and Your Heart Magic
When I opened the Akashic Records for October, I felt a sense of things coming together. The words tightening and coalescing came through, as though pieces we’ve been working with are beginning to find their places.
A decision may bring the path ahead into clearer view. A plan might begin to take form. Or perhaps an option we thought would remain open is no longer available, bringing a kind of clarity we need time to feel our way through. Coming into focus doesn’t always mean getting the answer we hoped for. Sometimes it means seeing more clearly what we can work with now.
Alongside that movement, October carries a wild card quality. Something unexpected may enter the picture, particularly as we move further into the final months of the year. The energy can be both cohesive and surprising.
Variations and the unexpected color
The word the Records gave me for this month was variations. The image was an art exhibition filled with paintings in shades of blue. Each piece is different, yet they share a palette, and after a while your eye knows what to expect. Then, among them, you find a painting in vivid, unexpected pink.
You might love it. You might wonder what it’s doing there, or wish the collection had stayed blue. Whatever your response, you stop and look. The new color changes your experience of the room.
That image speaks to October’s energy. Some parts of life may begin to feel as though they belong together, while another development arrives in a color we didn’t anticipate. It might be an idea or opportunity; it might be a change of plans or a circumstance we wouldn’t have chosen. We don’t have to value each experience equally, and we don’t have to like a surprise simply because it’s here. There is room for an honest, human response as we discover what it means.
Moving with the energy
The first guidance I received was to take intentional breaks. With so much information and stimulation always available, we may need to be the ones who stop the ride and step away for a little while. A break might mean time outside, putting down a device, making something with your hands, or choosing anything that lets your attention settle into a different rhythm.
The Records also invited us to ask what we would still like to bring into form before the year ends. This is a gentle question, not another deadline. Is there one thing that matters to you that you’d like to make a little more room for? One possible step may be enough for now.
And finally, there was encouragement to keep moving with the life that is here, even if it doesn’t resemble an older version of normal. We can adapt at a pace we can live with, find humor when it’s available, and return to the puzzle one piece at a time. We’re allowed to begin a new puzzle, too.
Card of the Month
October’s card is A Sprig of Something New from the Flotsam & Jetsam Oracle, a deck I’ve been creating.
A sprig isn’t the whole tree. It’s a small sign of life and an invitation to try something unfamiliar simply because it interests you or brings a little color into your day.
New energy doesn’t always arrive through a sweeping change. Sometimes it begins with one small departure from the familiar—a different path, an unfamiliar song, a color you’ve been saving, or something you try simply because it makes you smile.
As October brings its own unexpected colors, this card invites you to introduce one of yours. Let the experiment be small enough to feel inviting. It doesn’t have to become useful or permanent; it can simply remind you that the day is still open to possibility.
A question to carry: What small, playful, or unfamiliar thing would I like to try this month?
Whatever colors October brings, may you find moments to pause, notice what is taking shape, and give yourself room to respond in your own way.
With Aloha,
